If you have not heard of the Steel City Derby Demons then you're missing out on one of Pittsburgh's most exciting and fun groups to spring up in the past several years.

 

The derby has a long and sordid past, and no, I'm not talking about the athletes, well then again . . . just playing.

 

From it's beginnings the sport was exploitative but in recent years women have been instrumental in taking ownership of the sport and making it as complex and beautiful as the athletes that fill it's ranks. It's no longer about showing off girls in tight outfits, it's about all those complex things that women do, think and feel that men don't really get. Like being strong and sexy and all types of different things at the same time. You know - girl stuff. 

 

The flat track that these ladies skate on takes skill and high levels of energy to compete on. This is no place for powder-puffs and the faint-of-heart.

 

If you have any doubts about the passion and intensity as well as raw talent, work-ethic, and competitiveness of these athletes then stop gawking at their boobs and start watching the match - any doubts will soon vanish.
