About TRIC

Introduction

Skaters cruise around on through Manchester on the Northside The Three Rivers In-line Club (TRIC) is a nonprofit, volunteer, incorporated organization founded in 1994. It consists of concerned, dedicated skaters that have a wide variety of professions, skating abilities, and skating goals. TRIC's mission is to provide its members opportunities to skate together, represent the interests of skaters in community affairs in Western Pennsylvania, and encourage, promote, and develop the sport of inline skating.

Organization

TRIC is led by a group of volunteers on a Steering Committee. These volunteers are committed to improving the inline skating scene in Pittsburgh and the Western PA area. There are many ways you can get involved: event and trip leadership and support; race management; mailing production; club marketing; newsletter; cartoons, drawings, articles, and layout-you name it. For more information on joining the Steering Committee see the Steering Committee page

Weekly Skates

TRIC offers 10 regular weekly skates for skaters of all abilities. They range in distance from 4 miles up to almost 20 miles. See schedule Weekly Skates page for details on each skate. If you are not a member of TRIC you still are welcome to come to any skate.

The National Skate Patrol (NSP) regularly leads four of these skates to control traffic as skaters enjoy the challenging urban routes. National Skate Patroller's are IISA Nationally Certified & most are Red Cross CPR & First Aid trained. See the National Skate Patrol website for more info.

Events

TRIC organizes events to match the goals of our members and that help to grow the sport. We organize recreational skate outings, including group outings on weekends, races, night skates, and trips to skate in other cities.

We have participate in and plan to continue participating in events with other skating clubs. In past years we have sent groups of skaters to the Athens, to  Atlanta race, the Philadelphia Freedom Skate, Washington D.C. for the Skate DC Weekend , New York City, Erie, & Chicago.

In the winter, we offer members the opportunity to participate in other related sports, including skiing, ice skating, and indoor inline skating. We offer members the opportunity to participate in unrelated sports and activities such as: bowling, comedy shows, paintball, golf, etc. As well TRIC has held and continues to hold BBQs several times every year after our Friday Night Skates.
