Steering CommitteeTRIC is ran by a steering committee that all paying members are welcome to be a part of. To find out how to join the steering committee please visit the steering committee contact form or see the current coordinator Chris Croyle at any skate. Steering Committee HistoryThe Club was at one time managed by a core group of dedicated skaters who made all decisions and choices based on what they thought was best for the club. This method is very demanding on those individuals and can lead to conflict with large numbers of skaters not directly involved with club governance. Though the club has always remained very thankful to those who worked so hard in the past today the club is run as an absolute democracy. Several years back the club went through a change in leadership that ultimately resulted in the formation of the steering committee. This committee is not elected and the only requirement for members wishing to be on the steering committee is that they are in good financial standing with the club. Though there is a coordinator, there is no one person in charge of the club and all members of the steering committee can vote or abstain from voting on any topic that is raised with the steering committee. No member of the committee has any seniority over another and the process is fully democratic. Moving ForwardAt the 2006 season closed it became apparent that there were members who did not understand the open structure of the steering committee. It was discovered that some members believed that the club was run by a president and by self elected closed door officers. The steering committee resolves to clear this confusion by calling for open attendance by all parties, who are members in good standing, to any and all meetings as well as full access to all other communications from the steering committee. The only reason that all members are not included from the start is that certain members in the past have expressed their strong desire to be excluded from all issues of club governance. While the steering committee has gone to great lengths to provide those people what they wished for it has fallen short of the goal of inclusion under the assumption that many members feel this way. That has all changed as we now welcome all members in to the steering committee and seek to recruit all those wishing to have their voices heard.
